Hey, people of Wildstorm Love. I'm new here; I come bearing the Wildstorm highlights of DC's June 2007 solicitations.

Headline news: with issue 8, Midnighter gets a new writer: Christos Gage, of making Stormwatch PHD really rather marvellous fame!
Midnighter #8
Written by Christos Gage
Art by John Paul Leon
Cover by Chris Sprouse
The Midnighter is challenged by Hawksmoor to take on a different kind of mission, one with a little more humanity. Amused by the dare, Midnighter agrees, only to find that nothing ever comes easy in this nasty world we live in.
On sale June 6 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US
The cover image could mean that Jack has challenged Midnighter to protect kittens from Nosferatu. If that's not the case, I hope there will at least be fanfic with that premise somewhere.

Also solicited: Grifter and Midnighter #4, with Chuck Dixon and Ryan Benjamin; Gen 13 #9 with Gail Simone and Carlo Barberi; Welcome to Tranquility #7 with Gail Simone and Neil Googe; Wetworks #10 with J.M. DeMatteis and Joel Gomez; and Stormwatch PHD #8, with Christos Gage and new artist Andy Smith. A trade for the first 6 issues of Stormwatch has also been advance-solicited for July 18.

No sign of the sunken flagships, Authority (now officially on hiatus) and Wildcats (with optimists predicting a May 30th ship date for #2), and the cover for Stormwatch shows Lauren channeling her inner Vampire Willow to an unprecedented degree, but there's plenty here to spark off some good Wildstorm love. ETA: it's been brought to my attention that parts of my brain have fallen into disuse. Obviously that's not Fahrenheit, it's Diva. Sixty lashes.

Gage is taking over Midnighter? Here's praying he figures out how to friggin' pace a book before then, or we might end up with five issues of Midnighter eating a sandwich or something. :P

I am now trying to make a list. Characters who could spend five issues having lunch and still have me buy their book. I have two.

John Constantine
Spider Jerusalem

Ah, I'd turn out for Midnighter, though it'd depend what he was having. Another bowl of Emo Flakes, and I'd give it a miss. But maybe poorly-formed burritos, where there would be inevitable Dropping of the Filling onto the Leather, and then would come the rage...

If Ennis was writing it'd be a jumbo hotdog.

With flashbacks, though nique! Flashbacks on half-remembered epoch-making sandwiches from his dark and gloomy past!

Hrrrm. Maybe we could get some heavy handed commentary on how hard it is to be a gay superhero dropped into an issue?

(I know I'm being hard on the guy, but really. Clearly, he *can* write, so I wish he'd just do it, and actually make me care about PHD, instead of my being strung along by the promise of guest appearances...)

On hiatus. Sweet Jesus Flutie. How do they justify this? In what bizarre universe does this constitute good business practice?

...Midnighter/Wetworks fanfic? I'd read that.

It's very, very clearly Diva. And Nigel's lost his pants again. Damnit.

And Nigel's lost his pants again. Damnit.
Well, the horror of that'd turn me into Diva too.

Winter looks like he's thinking "That's it... I'm *out* of this photoshoot..."

AHAHAHA. Exactly. Either that, or it's his version of Blue Steel.

It's rather terrible that we don't have a Prime book, because my brain is filling in all of the bickering I know must be going on...

21st-Mar-2007 12:51 am (UTC) - Kali, too lazy to log out of RP account...

Look, what say I book us tickets on Expedia, we fly to DC's editorial offices, and shove a gallon of Hurry The Fuck UP down Jim Lee's throat?

Deal. :D

I will come along, if I can veer off from the main team and kill Dan DiDio and Geoff Johns before reappearing at the moment of apparent defeat to yank victory from the jaws of defeat.
